Internship is winding down to a close and it's a bittersweet feeling. I have missed the bustle of school and my friends, but I have made new friends that I will miss. I think that my social interactions with the group have gone well for the most part. I have had time to connect with everyone and really learn what it is they do and how they feel about the work environment. I think that those conversations will be the most valuable takeaways from this internship.
One thing that could have gone better is my use of free time. When I finished something I have been relaxing, wandering, and exploring the lab. That is no surprise, it's just part of my work ethic, but I could have been more structured in how I did that. Instead of investigating boxes of components I should have been seeking out a person I could have learned from. I spent some time observing what others did, but I could have and probably should have spent more. Something that stands out to me from this experience is how much I have learned about myself. I discovered that I don't think electrical engineering is the right path for me. I learned that I fit into the college atmosphere quite well. I have learned that I can work 8 hour days if I have to (it's rough). These are things I wouldn't have known if I hadn't been given the opportunity of interning.
